Mon Mar 24 08:56:33 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Races Against Time to Rescue Seven Trapped in Collapsed Tunnel

**Hyderabad, March 24, 2025** – A month after a portion of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapsed in Nagarkurnool, Telangana, trapping eight workers, rescue efforts continue with seven still missing. One body has been recovered.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convened a high-level review meeting on Monday, attended by key ministers and officials, to assess the ongoing rescue operation. The meeting took place at the Assembly Committee Hall in Hyderabad.

Nagarkurnool Collector Badavath Sanotsh reported that rescue teams from both the state and central governments are working tirelessly. Digging operations are underway at designated points (D1 and D2), and dewatering efforts are in progress within the tunnel. While some areas remain too dangerous to access, work has been accelerated in other sections. Obstacles like parts of the tunnel boring machine have been removed, and sludge is being cleared using jet sprays and excavators.

Despite the ongoing efforts, seven workers remain unaccounted for, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The incident occurred on February 22nd.
