**DHAKA, BANGLADESH** – Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal is recovering after suffering a massive heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match on Monday. The 36-year-old, leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, experienced chest pains while playing at the BKSP ground in Savar.

Initially treated on the field, Iqbal was taken to a nearby hospital for further examination. After a preliminary ECG and blood tests revealed irregularities, he was transported back to Dhaka. However, he experienced renewed chest pain en route, prompting a second hospital visit where doctors diagnosed a major heart attack.

Iqbal is currently under observation at Fazilatunnesa Hospital and has undergone emergency surgery to have a stent inserted to restore proper blood flow to his heart. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has postponed its scheduled meeting and several board members have rushed to Savar to be with Iqbal. His condition is being closely monitored.
