Mon Mar 24 12:31:09 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Farmers Demand Minimum Support Prices

**SRIKAKULAM, Andhra Pradesh – March 24, 2025** – The Rythu Coolie Sangham of Andhra Pradesh, affiliated with the All India Khet Mazdoor Kisan Sangh, is demanding the Union government immediately announce minimum support prices (MSP) for agricultural products. The organization cites a recent steep drop in prices for crops like red chilies and tomatoes, leaving farmers struggling.

Dantuluri Varma, State secretary of the Rythu Coolie Sangham, stated that the lack of MSP is allowing middlemen to exploit farmers by offering low prices while selling the produce at inflated rates in the open market. He criticized recent talks between the Union Agriculture Minister and various associations as unproductive, blaming the government’s lack of concrete proposals.

Varma highlighted the dire situation facing farmers, citing the alarming statistic of 11,290 farmer and agricultural laborer suicides in the past year due to financial hardship exacerbated by rising seed and fertilizer costs. He warned that without government intervention to protect farmers’ interests, many more will abandon agriculture.

The Sangham is planning further action, with its State president and national leaders set to meet soon to strategize. Varma appealed to the broader public to support farmers’ demands, emphasizing the vital role of agriculture in providing food security. He also urged the Andhra Pradesh state government to release more funds to complete pending irrigation projects, thereby creating more livelihood opportunities for agricultural laborers.
