Sun Mar 23 20:53:58 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics to be Rebranded, Upgraded Amidst Concerns
**New Delhi, March 24, 2025** – The Delhi BJP government is undertaking a major overhaul of the city’s popular Mohalla Clinics, rebranding them as Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (U-AAMs). This follows a Comptroller and Auditor General report highlighting shortcomings in the clinics’ operations.
While the 553 existing Mohalla Clinics will be converted into U-AAMs, approximately 160 clinics operating from rented spaces will be shut down. The government plans to expand services at the remaining clinics, adding emergency and vaccination facilities, as well as integrating Ayurvedic treatments.
The changes have sparked mixed reactions. While patients express hope that the quality of care will remain consistent, some doctors working at the clinics voice concerns about the integration of Ayurvedic and modern medicine. They also question the practicality of implementing emergency services given the current staffing levels.
A recent dip in patient numbers has been observed, although doctors emphasize that the clinics, each staffed with a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, and multi-tasker, remain fully operational. The rebranding process is currently underway, with the planned establishment of 1,139 U-AAMs across the city. The government has assured that the expansion and integration of services are aimed at improving healthcare access for Delhi residents.
