Mon Mar 24 09:55:37 UTC 2025: ## Tech Entrepreneur Takes Helm of Kerala BJP
**Thiruvananthapuram, March 24, 2025** – Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a tech entrepreneur and former Union Minister, has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kerala unit. The announcement was made Monday at the party’s state council meeting in Thiruvananthapuram by BJP central observer Pralhad Joshi. Chandrasekhar succeeds K. Surendran, who served a five-year term.
Chandrasekhar’s appointment comes months ahead of crucial local body elections in 2025 and the 2026 Assembly elections. He stated his mission is to establish a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Kerala, mirroring the performance of the Modi government at the national level. He aims to transform Kerala’s economy, attract investment, and create jobs.
Outgoing president Surendran highlighted a growing acceptance of BJP ideology in Kerala, dismissing concerns about Chandrasekhar’s perceived lack of organizational experience. He cited Chandrasekhar’s contribution to the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign and emphasized the BJP’s increased internal diversity, with women and minority communities now holding significant leadership positions.
Joshi praised Chandrasekhar’s strategic plan for BJP’s growth in Kerala and criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government for financial mismanagement, corruption, and law and order failures. Prakash Javadekar, the party’s Kerala in-charge, assured that Surendran will be given other significant responsibilities within the party.
