**Tiruchi, March 24, 2025** – Ten unidentified Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members have been booked by the K.K. Nagar police for allegedly assaulting a photographer from a Tamil daily newspaper. The incident occurred Sunday night during a BJP public meeting on the National Education Policy in Mannarpuram, Tiruchi.

Photographer S. Sundar sustained injuries to his forehead and left shoulder during the attack. He is receiving treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital. According to police, the assault occurred after the photographer attempted to send photographs to his office via mobile phone. The BJP cadre reportedly mistook his actions for photographing empty chairs at the meeting, which featured BJP state president K. Annamalai as a speaker.

A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt).

Tiruchi Lok Sabha member Durai Vaiko condemned the incident and called for swift police action against those responsible.
