Mon Mar 24 04:06:49 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka to Build New Multi-Specialty Hospital in Saundatti, Invest ₹246 Crore in Health Infrastructure

**Belagavi, Karnataka –** The Karnataka government announced a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure for the Belagavi district. Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, revealed plans for a new ₹46 crore multi-specialty hospital in Saundatti, following a massive health camp that screened over 8,000 patients on March 23rd.

The initiative follows the recent inauguration of a mother and child hospital and a new district hospital in Khanapur taluk, and plans for a similar facility in Gokak. Over 38,000 patients have already received treatment for eye ailments across the region. Further plans include a comprehensive Home Health Scheme to provide medicines to every family.

Public Works and district In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi hailed the health camp as a historic event, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access in the region. He announced an additional allocation of funds for a new public hospital building and a ₹200 crore special grant for the overall development of Saundatti Yallamma temple and the Saundatti taluk.

MLA Vishwas Vaidya, instrumental in organizing the health camp, emphasized the need for further improvements, specifically requesting upgrades to the Munavalli primary health center to a community health center to serve over 40,000 people in 25 surrounding villages. He also highlighted the achievement of 172 TB-free village panchayats in the district.
