Mon Mar 24 14:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Pant’s Duck Debuts as Lucknow Super Giants Post Big Total Against Delhi Capitals

**Visakhapatnam, India** – Rishabh Pant’s highly anticipated debut as captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ended in disappointment on Monday. The IPL’s most expensive player, purchased for ₹27 crore last year, was dismissed for a golden duck against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in his team’s opening match of IPL 2025. He faced just six balls before being caught by Faf du Plessis off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav in the 14th over.

This zero mirrored a curious coincidence: KL Rahul, Pant’s predecessor as LSG captain (and now a DC player), also scored a duck in his first match as LSG captain three years ago. Interestingly, Rahul never registered a duck while captaining Punjab Kings.

Despite Pant’s early exit, Nicholas Pooran (75 runs off 30 balls, including 6 fours and 7 sixes) and Mitchell Marsh (72 runs off 46 balls, including 6 fours and 6 sixes) steered LSG to a formidable 209/8 in their 20 overs. The pair shared an 87-run partnership for the second wicket. However, LSG lost seven wickets for 61 runs after reaching 133/1 in the 12th over. David Miller provided a late cameo, scoring an unbeaten 27 off 19 balls.
