KOCHI, March 24, 2025 – The Kochi Corporation presented a surplus budget of ₹262.36 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year on Monday. Deputy Mayor K.A. Ansiya highlighted an anticipated additional revenue of ₹50 crore through improved financial management. The budget prioritizes infrastructure development and social programs.

A significant portion, ₹169 crore, is allocated to road development, including ₹100 crore for the long-awaited Thammanam-Pulleppady Road project and ₹30 crore for a city-wide road cluster development project. An additional ₹25 crore will complete the smart road conversion initiative.

Other key allocations include:

* **₹46 crore:** Construction of an international convention center in Edappally.
* **₹30 crore:** Completion of the new corporation headquarters.
* **₹30 crore:** “Kochi Without Homeless” project to provide housing.
* **₹20 crore:** Education initiatives, encompassing school infrastructure upgrades, cafeterias, and skill centers.
* **₹20 crore:** Waterlogging mitigation projects, including drainage improvements and floodwater pumping systems.
* **₹20 crore:** Lake dredging to address tidal flooding.
* **₹15 crore:** Establishment of a cultural complex in Kacheripady.
* **₹12 crore each:** Mosquito control, scheduled caste/tribe welfare, and anganwadi development.
* **₹10 crore each:** Park and public space maintenance, Fort Kochi beach renovation, decentralized waste treatment, homelessness eradication, and drainage master plan creation.
* **₹5 crore each:** Issuing health cards and making the city age-friendly.
* **₹5 crore:** Revival of the Padmasarovaram project.
* **₹9 crore:** Development of community market hubs.
