Mon Mar 24 13:27:37 UTC 2025: ## Indian Navy’s Indigenous Diving Support Vessel Nears Completion

**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh – March 25, 2025** – The Indian Navy’s first indigenously built diving support vessel (DSV), INS Nistar, is nearing completion, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) announced on Monday. The vessel, constructed by HSL, recently completed successful sea trials of its air/mix gas diving systems and observation-class remotely operated vehicle (OROV).

The advanced diving systems on INS Nistar allow for dives up to 75 meters deep, featuring an open bottom bell and side diving stage. This capability is crucial for rapid underwater surveys, inspections, and efficient planning for saturation diving operations. The ship’s 15-tonne capacity marine crane further enhances its capabilities, enabling salvage operations even in heavy seas.

The completion of INS Nistar represents a significant milestone in India’s indigenous shipbuilding capabilities and strengthens the Navy’s underwater operations capacity. A second DSV is also under construction.
