Sun Mar 23 18:07:22 UTC 2025: ## Palestinian Activist’s Wife Denounces Trump Administration’s “Disgusting” Hamas Allegations

**NEW YORK, NY –** Noor Abdalla, the pregnant wife of detained Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, has vehemently denounced allegations by the Trump administration that her husband supports Hamas. In an interview with CBS, Abdalla called the accusations, made by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, “ridiculous” and “disgusting,” asserting that the government has presented no evidence to support its claims that Khalil, a former Columbia University graduate student, distributed Hamas flyers.

Khalil, who served as a spokesperson for pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University last year, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on March 8th and is currently detained in Louisiana. The Trump administration is pursuing his deportation under a rarely used provision of immigration law, citing “adverse foreign policy consequences.” This action is part of a broader Trump administration crackdown on students involved in protests against Israel’s war on Gaza.

A US district judge has temporarily blocked Khalil’s deportation. Abdalla insists her husband’s actions stem from his advocacy against the violence in Gaza, stating, “He just doesn’t want his people to be murdered. He doesn’t want to see little kids losing limbs.”

The accusations against Khalil come amidst a devastating conflict in Gaza, where over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 113,000 wounded since October 2023, according to Gaza health officials. Israel’s recent resumption of attacks has resulted in hundreds more casualties.

Abdalla expressed deep frustration with the repeated need to defend herself and her husband against what she sees as discriminatory accusations, recounting an incident where she was called a “terrorist” while walking in New York. She stated that such experiences are common for many Muslims in the US. The Trump administration has yet to provide evidence supporting its claims against Khalil.
