**Meerut, India –** A chilling case of murder has unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, revealing a plot orchestrated through deceptive Snapchat messages. Muskaan Rastogi, accused of killing her husband Saurabh Rajput, allegedly used three separate Snapchat accounts – one in her own name, one in her mother’s, and one in her brother’s – to manipulate her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla, into participating in the crime.
Police have accessed the messages, which detail Rastogi’s manipulation of Shukla, who reportedly believed in the occult. Rastogi, posing as Shukla’s deceased mother on one account, sent messages suggesting that Rajput’s death was inevitable and divinely ordained. One message ominously stated, “He (Saurabh) is destined to die at Muskaan’s hands.” Other messages portrayed Rastogi’s family as approving of the relationship, removing any doubt Shukla may have had about the plan.
The couple, both drug addicts, allegedly drugged Rajput on March 3rd before stabbing him to death. His body was dismembered into 15 pieces and sealed in a cement-filled drum. The pair then fled to Himachal Pradesh before returning to Meerut, where their attempt to dispose of the body was thwarted when the drum’s lid came off, revealing the horrific contents. The resulting stench alerted laborers, who ultimately led to the couple’s apprehension.
Rastogi and Shukla, schoolmates who reconnected in 2019, allegedly feared Rajput would end their drug-fueled affair. Rajput, who worked in London, was visiting Meerut for his daughter’s birthday when he was murdered.
Superintendent of Police (Meerut City) Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Rastogi planned the murder in November. The investigation highlights the disturbing use of social media to manipulate and orchestrate a brutal crime. The case underscores the dangers of drug abuse and the manipulative power of those who exploit others’ vulnerabilities. Both Rastogi and Shukla are currently in police custody facing murder charges.
