**Manipur IDP Children Enjoy Day Out at Water Park**

Imphal, Manipur – Internally displaced children from relief camps in Imphal, Manipur, were treated to a day of fun at a water amusement park on Sunday, March 23, 2025. The outing, arranged by the state’s Tourism Department, provided a much-needed respite for the children displaced by the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state. The Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited provided refreshments and logistical support.

The children, displaced from the Kuki-Zo dominated Churachandpur district, visited the Thenguchingjin Water Amusement Park in Imphal East. Former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, who coordinated the initiative, announced the free passes on X (formerly Twitter), stating he had promised the visit to representatives of the displaced Meitei community. Singh thanked BJP workers from the Heingang Assembly constituency for their assistance.

The Thenguchingjin park, inaugurated by Singh in March 2024, is slated for expansion, with plans to add features like a trekking rail and toy train. The Manipur government also intends to construct nine similar parks across the state at a cost of ₹3.5 crore each, including in conflict hotspots such as Churachandpur, Jiribam, and Kangpokpi. The conflict, which began a year prior, has resulted in over 250 deaths and displaced approximately 60,000 people.
