**CHENNAI, March 24, 2025** – A 20-year-old college student was killed and seven others injured when a speeding SUV crashed into a coconut tree near Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday. The group, travelling from Tambaram to Tada waterfalls in Andhra Pradesh, were in a vehicle driven by Mohammed Avesh. The driver lost control near the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, resulting in the fatal accident.

Samreen, the deceased, was travelling with cousins and friends. The impact caused extensive damage to the SUV. While Samreen died at the scene, the seven injured passengers were rescued by villagers and transported to Government Stanley Hospital. The body of Samreen has been sent to Gummidipoondi government hospital for a post-mortem. Tada police are investigating the incident.
