**Coimbatore, March 24, 2025** – A major police operation in Coimbatore District (Rural) resulted in the arrest of 32 history-sheeters on Sunday. Twenty special teams, acting on instructions from Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan, conducted a district-wide crackdown targeting rowdyism, kangaroo courts, and other illegal activities. The operation led to the apprehension of 44 individuals in total; the remaining 12 were released. The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in disrupting public order and preparing for criminal activities, including robbery. They have been remanded in judicial custody.

In a separate operation on Saturday, police conducted surprise checks at 80 dhabas across the district following reports of illegal liquor sales. Three hundred personnel, utilizing the Tamil Nadu police’s Face Recognition System app, checked the backgrounds of employees. Fourteen dhaba workers with prior criminal records were identified. Police also conducted surprise checks at college student accommodations.

Finally, a 43-year-old Singanallur resident was arrested for drunk driving after refusing to yield to an ambulance. Police found an air rifle in his vehicle and seized both the car and the weapon. The man, who cited personal issues as the reason for his drinking, was released into his family’s custody. The police operation highlights a concerted effort by Coimbatore authorities to maintain law and order in the district.
