Sun Mar 23 18:02:17 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Farmers Suffer Heavy Crop Losses After Hailstorms
**Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh –** Unexpected hailstorms and heavy rain across several Andhra Pradesh districts have caused significant damage to horticulture crops, impacting over 1,300 farmers. The affected areas include Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, and Prakasam districts, where approximately 1,670 hectares of farmland suffered losses.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to provide full support to the affected farmers. He personally reviewed the situation with the Agriculture Minister and department officials, also inquiring about the condition of two banana farmers from Anantapur who attempted suicide following crop damage. Officials reported that the farmers are now out of danger and receiving treatment.
The damage is widespread, affecting 40 villages across 10 mandals. In response, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy plans to visit the affected Lingala mandal in Kadapa district on Monday to assess the situation and meet with farmers. The incident underscores the vulnerability of farmers to extreme weather events and highlights the urgent need for government support.
