Mon Mar 24 15:57:08 UTC 2025: ## Telangana BJP Demands Compensation for Drought-Hit Farmers, Attacks BRS Government

**Hyderabad, March 24, 2025** – The Telangana BJP has demanded immediate compensation for farmers whose crops have failed due to water shortages, escalating its criticism of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. The party is calling for ₹30,000 per acre in compensation and the swift implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) crop insurance scheme.

BJP General Secretary G. Premender Reddy, along with other party leaders, visited affected farms in Nalgonda district, highlighting the plight of farmers and urging the government to release the promised ₹12,000 per acre under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Reddy criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for prioritizing a conclave of opposition leaders over addressing the farmers’ crisis. He warned of intensified protests if the government fails to act.

Separately, BJP spokespersons condemned the filing of a case against Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his comments on alleged corrupt dealings by BRS leaders. They argued that Kumar merely reiterated previously made allegations, and challenged the BRS to investigate the claims. The BJP accused the BRS of widespread corruption and criticized its working president, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), for criticizing the BJP while overlooking the BRS’s own alleged wrongdoings. The party also condemned KTR’s alleged remarks against Hindu beliefs and customs, demanding an apology. The BJP characterized both the BRS and Congress as similar parties using the delimitation issue to divide the country along regional and caste lines.
