**Thanjavur, March 24, 2025** – A 43-year-old man, Saravanakarthi of Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar district, has been arrested for spreading false information regarding the appointment of a trustee to a Hindu temple in Thanjavur district. Police say a message alleging the appointment of a person from a minority community to the trustee board was widely circulated on social media. The arrest followed a complaint by Nargeeskhan, a local resident who clarified in a social media video that his minority-sounding name was due to family circumstances unrelated to religious affiliation. Saravanakarthi was apprehended in Chennai on March 23rd.
