**Bengaluru, March 25, 2025** – Bengaluru kicked off a city-wide water conservation campaign, “Jalave Jeeva” (Water is Life), with a ceremonial Cauvery Aarti at Sankey Tank. The initiative, spearheaded by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), aims to set a Guinness World Record for the most water conservation pledges collected in a single week (March 21-28).
The campaign encourages sustainable water practices including conservation, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater recharge. Participants are signing pledges committing to these practices.
The Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), representing over 1,000 apartment complexes, is actively supporting the effort. BAF Vice President Satish Mallya stated that the organization hopes to garner at least 900,000 pledges from its member complexes. BAF is using social media and direct outreach to encourage participation. The BWSSB hopes this large-scale campaign will drive significant behavioral changes towards sustainable water management in Bengaluru.
