Mon Mar 24 00:14:00 UTC 2025: ## Amit Shah’s West Bengal Trip Postponed Amidst BJP Leadership Shuffle

**Kolkata, March 24, 2025** – Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to West Bengal at the end of March has been postponed due to its overlap with the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, according to West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar. The visit, planned for March 28th and 29th, was to include an organizational meeting.

The postponement comes at a crucial time for the West Bengal BJP, which is currently searching for a new state president following Majumdar’s three-year term expiring last November. While speculation mounted that a new president would be announced before Shah’s visit, this has not yet happened. The party is adhering to its “one person, one post” principle, particularly since Majumdar also serves as a Minister of State for Education.

The upcoming appointment holds significant political weight, especially considering the 2026 Assembly elections. There is ongoing speculation that Majumdar may remain in his position until the polls. Meanwhile, former state president Dilip Ghosh, known for his successful leadership during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has become increasingly active in political circles, recently meeting with senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Adhikari, a prominent BJP voice in West Bengal, has set his sights on the 2026 elections, expressing confidence in the BJP’s victory. He highlighted the BJP’s strong performance in the Purba Medinipur district during the last Lok Sabha elections and held a rally on March 23rd, days after a BJP MLA defected to the Trinamool Congress. Adhikari’s rally emphasized “Hindu unity” and criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s policies.
