VIJAYAWADA, March 23, 2025 – Lanka Dinakar, Chairman of the 20-Point Programme, stressed the importance of coordinated efforts from officials to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat and Swarnandhra-2047 during a review meeting in Vijayawada on Saturday. The meeting focused on the implementation of central government schemes in NTR district.
Mr. Dinakar announced plans for a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) to ensure clean drinking water for every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He highlighted the goal of providing clean water access to every mandal in the district through the Pulichintala and Prakasam Barrage projects.
Addressing concerns about the stalled Vijayawada stormwater drain project, Mr. Dinakar stated that ₹460 crore in Union government funding, allocated in 2016, has been hampered by various issues, including fund diversion. Officials have been instructed to prepare a revised DPR and submit it to the government.
Furthermore, ₹18 crore will be invested in improving facilities at Bhavani Island, and plans are underway to boost tourism at the Prakasam Barrage and Pavitra Sangamam. Mr. Dinakar emphasized the need for increased employment opportunities in the state. The meeting was attended by NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha and MP Kesineni Sivanath.
