Sun Mar 23 01:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Uttar Pradesh Braces for More Rain, Heatwave Looms

**Lucknow, India** – Uttar Pradesh is facing a mixed bag of weather conditions. The meteorological department has issued a rain alert for 13 districts, with strong winds and showers expected in eastern UP due to an active western disturbance and moisture from the Bay of Bengal. Several districts experienced rain and hail on Saturday, with reports of strong winds, hailstorms in Sambhal, and crop damage in Bulandshahar. While some areas experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms, others saw only light showers. Prayagraj recorded the highest temperature at 36.7°C, while Kanpur recorded the lowest at 12.4°C.

Experts warn that while the current western disturbance is weakening, temperatures will gradually rise, potentially exceeding 40°C in many districts by the end of March. Agricultural experts express concern that recent rain and hailstorms could damage the wheat crop, potentially weakening grains and reducing yields. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to assess the damage and provide timely compensation.

Further into the forecast, temperatures are expected to soar even higher. Meteorologists predict temperatures in UP and Rajasthan could exceed 49°C in May and June, with a heatwave likely from March to May.

This weather news comes amidst a separate, tragic event. A BJP leader in Saharanpur confessed to killing his wife and three children, citing his wife’s alleged extramarital affair as the motive.
