Sun Mar 23 05:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Trump Administration to Deport Hundreds of Thousands of Migrants

**Washington D.C.** – The Trump administration announced it will revoke the temporary legal status of over 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, ordering them to leave the country by April 24th. These individuals entered the US under the Biden-era CHNV program, which offered a pathway to legal entry for those with US sponsors.

The program, suspended by the Trump administration upon taking office, allowed migrants and their families to enter the US under temporary parole status. While the Biden administration argued CHNV curbed illegal border crossings and improved vetting, the Department of Homeland Security now claims the program failed, alleging it led to job competition with American workers and widespread fraud.

The administration’s statement criticized the previous administration for its handling of the program. However, the 35-page notice in the Federal Register indicates some individuals may be allowed to remain on a case-by-case basis.

The decision has drawn immediate legal challenges. Karen Tumlin of the Justice Action Center stated that the move harms migrants who followed all government procedures. The administration’s action affects approximately 213,000 Haitians, over 120,000 Venezuelans, 110,000 Cubans, and over 93,000 Nicaraguans who entered under CHNV.

This move follows the administration’s announcement to end temporary protected status (TPS) for 500,000 Haitians in August and the halting of TPS for Venezuelans, a decision currently facing legal challenges. The Trump administration is also considering revoking the temporary status of approximately 240,000 Ukrainians. The administration’s sweeping immigration policies have already faced multiple legal challenges since the start of the year.
