**Bengaluru, March 23, 2025** – A Bengaluru motorist narrowly escaped serious injury on Thursday afternoon when a tree branch, dislodged by a container truck, fell onto his parked two-wheeler. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Jeevan Bima Nagar Main Road in east Bengaluru.
Mani, the motorist, had stopped his vehicle due to light rain and sought shelter in a nearby BMTC bus stop. Moments later, the branch crashed down, crushing his two-wheeler and damaging another parked nearby.
Quick thinking and the fortunate decision to take shelter saved Mani from potential injury. Upon hearing the commotion, Jeevan Bima Nagar Traffic Police Station personnel swiftly responded. They initially focused on removing the stalled container truck which was obstructing traffic flow.
However, the large size of the fallen branch presented a challenge. Police officers, aided by several passersby, worked together for over an hour, using wooden sticks and an axe to clear the road. Lalit Attal, a local resident who assisted, confirmed that the truck had struck the tree, causing the branch to fall.
The incident highlights the potential dangers posed by aging trees and the importance of prompt response from authorities and community members in such situations. Traffic was disrupted for approximately an hour while the road was cleared.
