Sun Mar 23 05:47:10 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Returns Bodies of Two Drowned Indians Across LoC

**SRINAGAR, March 23, 2025** – The bodies of two Indian citizens who drowned in the Jhelum river in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have been returned to India. Yasir Hussain Shah and Asiya Bano, both from the Uri area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, went missing after reportedly jumping into the river on March 5th.

Shah’s body was spotted near the Line of Control (LoC) on March 20th, but strong currents initially prevented its retrieval. Indian authorities contacted their counterparts in PoK, leading to a joint effort to recover both bodies.

A handover ceremony took place Saturday at the Kaman post along the LoC, attended by officials from the Uri administration, Indian Army personnel, PoK representatives, and the families of the deceased. The bodies were then transferred to Indian authorities. The incident highlights the ongoing cooperation between the two sides in certain humanitarian situations, despite political tensions.
