**Bengaluru, March 23, 2025** – A tragic accident during a religious festival in Rayasandra, Karnataka, claimed the life of a 24-year-old man and injured three others on Saturday. A 100-foot-tall chariot, part of the historical Madduramma temple’s annual fair, collapsed during heavy rain and strong winds.
The incident occurred as devotees were pulling the chariot towards the temple. A 16-year-old girl is reportedly in critical condition, while the other two injured individuals are stable. A similar incident involving a second chariot occurred earlier in the day at Chikka Nagamangala, causing damage to parked vehicles but resulting in no serious injuries.
Local resident and organizer Rakesh stated that such an accident is unprecedented in the temple’s 100-year history. Police initially faced jurisdictional confusion but ultimately registered a case of death due to negligence against the event organizers, citing a lack of safety measures during the procession.
