Sun Mar 23 02:00:00 UTC 2025: **LSU Tigers Host San Diego State Aztecs in NCAA Tournament Showdown**

BATON ROUGE, LA – The No. 13 LSU Tigers will face off against the No. 14 San Diego State Aztecs in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament this Saturday at 9:15 p.m. CT in the PMAC. The game, airing on ESPN, will be the final NCAA Tournament game to tip off on Saturday. Earlier in the evening, No. 6 Florida State will play No. 11 George Mason at 6:45 p.m. CT on ESPN2. A fan fest will be held at 6:30 p.m. CT on the PMAC’s south pad.

LSU enters the tournament with key players Flau’Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow fully recovered from minor injuries. Johnson, the team’s leading scorer (18.9 ppg), sat out three games with shin inflammation, while Morrow, the nation’s leading rebounder (13.6 rpg), reaggravated a foot sprain. Both are now back to full practice.

The Tigers’ success hinges not only on their star trio of Johnson, Morrow (a USBWA First Team All-American), and Mikaylah Williams (AP All-America honorable mention, 17.2 ppg, over 110 assists), but also on the contributions of role players like Kailyn Gilbert, Mjracle Sheppard, Sa’Myah Smith, Jersey Wolfenbarger, and Jada. Coach Kim Mulkey emphasizes the importance of each player fulfilling their role.

San Diego State, led by Coach Stacie Terry-Hutson (a former LSU assistant coach), arrives with an eight-game winning streak and a balanced offensive attack. The Aztecs, Mountain West Conference champions, are known for their strong bench, averaging 27.1 points per game. This promises to be a challenging matchup for the Tigers.
