**Accomack County, VA – March 23, 2025** – A 56-year-old Indian-origin man and his 24-year-old daughter were fatally shot at a convenience store in Accomack County, Virginia, early on March 20. Police have arrested 44-year-old George Frazier Devon Wharton in connection with the double homicide.

The victims, identified as Pradipkumar Patel and his daughter, were working at the store on Lankford Highway when the shooting occurred around 5:30 am. Deputies responding to the scene found Mr. Patel deceased, while his daughter was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Wharton has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at Accomack Jail. A motive for the shooting has not yet been released.
