**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh:** A shocking murder case has unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman and her lover embarked on a 15-day holiday to Himachal Pradesh just hours after brutally murdering and dismembering her husband. Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, who were having an affair, stabbed Saurabh Rajput, Muskaan’s husband, to death on March 4th. They then dismembered his body, sealed the remains in a drum with cement, and fled to Shimla, Manali, and Kasol.
Their seemingly carefree trip included purchasing alcohol, ordering a birthday cake for Sahil, and even visiting a gurudwara, according to their cab driver, Ajab Singh. Singh stated that the couple barely spoke during the journey and that Sahil consumed at least two bottles of alcohol daily throughout the trip. Muskaan also purchased and consumed alcohol, a fact the driver only noticed upon their return journey. The total cost of the trip was ₹54,000.
The gruesome details of the murder emerged on March 18th when Muskaan confessed to her mother, leading to the arrests of both Muskaan and Sahil. A post-mortem revealed that Rajput was stabbed three times in the heart with extreme force, and his body was severely dismembered – his head severed, hands cut off at the wrists, and legs bent to fit into the drum. The cause of death was attributed to shock and excessive bleeding.
Rajput and Muskaan had been married since 2016, against his family’s wishes. The couple had a six-year-old daughter, who, according to her grandmother, reportedly told neighbours that her “Papa is in the drum,” suggesting she may have witnessed part of the horrific event. Muskaan and Sahil had known each other since school and reconnected through a WhatsApp group in 2019. The police investigation is ongoing.
