**NELLORE, Andhra Pradesh –** The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Coastal Cyclothon, a 6,553-kilometer journey along India’s coastline, made a significant stop in Kavali, SPSR Nellore district, on Saturday evening. The eastern team, which began its ride in Bakkhali, West Bengal, on March 3rd, received a warm welcome from local officials and students.
Marking the CISF’s 56th Raising Day, the cyclothon, themed “Surakshit Tat – Samriddh Bharat” (Secured Coast – Prosperous India), involves two teams of 25 cyclists each traveling from the east and west coasts. The teams are expected to converge at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on March 31st, after traversing 11 states and union territories. This is the first cycle rally to cover the entire Indian mainland coastline.
The eastern team has already covered 1751 km, passing through key coastal cities including Puri, Visakhapatnam, and Machilipatnam, conducting community outreach programs on maritime safety and disaster preparedness. The rally was virtually flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The event’s success highlights the CISF’s commitment to coastal security and community engagement.
