PROVIDENCE, RI – McNeese State University’s Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament is captivating the nation, but it’s not just the team’s upset victory over Clemson that’s making headlines. Student manager Amir “Aura” Khan has become a viral sensation, capturing the hearts of fans and landing lucrative NIL deals.

Khan, a 22-year-old sports management major, first gained notoriety in February for his energetic pre-game rap performances, complete with a boombox, leading the team onto the court. His infectious enthusiasm has continued throughout the tournament, with CBS Sports cameras capturing his pre-game ritual against Clemson.

Following McNeese’s historic first-round win, Khan’s popularity exploded. He’s secured NIL deals with Buffalo Wild Wings, TickPick, Insomnia Cookies, and Topps, which even created a trading card in his honor. McNeese cheerleaders showed their support by wearing Khan-themed socks during the game.

“It’s crazy,” Khan told the Associated Press. “I never would have imagined this.”

Coach Will Wade attributes McNeese’s success in part to Khan’s dedication and positive energy. “He’s a servant leader,” Wade said, noting Khan’s voluntary role at the smaller university. Wade jokingly added that Khan’s newfound fame might be going to his head.

Khan, known for his flamboyant style, even compared his courtside performance to that of legendary basketball player Wilt Chamberlain, jokingly stating that if manager statistics were kept, he’d have comparable numbers.

With McNeese advancing to the second round against Purdue, all eyes remain on the team – and the charismatic student manager who’s become a March Madness legend.
