**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, March 22, 2025** – Visakhapatnam, a city brimming with military history and cultural heritage, boasts a unique collection of museums showcasing India’s naval prowess. Leading the attractions is the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, South Asia’s first of its kind, housed in a decommissioned Soviet submarine. Open daily except Mondays, the museum offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the complex workings of a submarine and the lives of its crew.

The museum, established in 2002, features the 91.3-meter-long submarine, complete with its original armament. Complementing the submarine museum is the Tu-142 Aircraft Museum, showcasing a decommissioned Soviet-era anti-submarine warfare aircraft. A Sea Harrier Museum, dedicated to the British-origin jump jets that served on India’s aircraft carriers, is also located on the premises.

Beyond naval history, Visakhapatnam offers the Visakha Museum, showcasing artifacts from the Kalingandhra region, and the Telugu Museum, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Telugu people.

Further expanding the city’s museum offerings, a new museum featuring a decommissioned Sikorsky UH-3H helicopter is under development, adding yet another dimension to Visakhapatnam’s captivating blend of military and cultural heritage.
