Sat Mar 22 15:29:55 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh to Upgrade Disaster Management with Tech Integration**

VIJAYAWADA, March 22, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh is set to bolster its disaster management capabilities through the integration of advanced technologies, according to Special Chief Secretary R.P. Sisodia. In a review meeting on Saturday, Mr. Sisodia stressed the urgent need for improved communication and real-time monitoring systems.

The initiative will equip officials, from Mandal Revenue Officers to District Collectors in coastal areas, with satellite phones. The state will also explore the use of drone technology, including night vision drones, for improved surveillance and response. If independent drone procurement proves infeasible, the government plans to empanel trained drone pilots.

Furthermore, Mr. Sisodia advocated for the integration of WhatsApp into disaster management protocols and the development of an AI-based disaster management system. The implementation of a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform before the monsoon season is also prioritized for enhanced real-time monitoring. The use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices for online data capture and dissemination will further expedite emergency response.

The meeting also reviewed the effectiveness of the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project (APDRP), funded by the World Bank, and assessed the availability of disaster relief supplies. Improvements to the existing disaster management app are planned to broaden its reach and utility. The deployment of ambient air quality monitoring equipment near hazardous factories will provide early warnings of potential chemical leaks. The Managing Director of the Disaster Management Authority, Ronanki Kurmanath, also participated in the meeting.
