NEW DELHI, March 22, 2025 – Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya has submitted a report to the Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, regarding the discovery of a large sum of cash at the residence of Justice Yashwant Varma following a fire. The cash was found after a fire at Justice Varma’s home on Holi night, March 14th.
Justice Upadhyaya launched an internal inquiry into the incident, collecting evidence and submitting his findings on March 21st. The Supreme Court Collegium will now review the report and determine further action.

The collegium considered the transfer proposal on March 20th, consulting with relevant judges and chief justices before reaching a decision.
