**Chennai, March 22, 2025** – Two hundred and seventy-four government school students from across Tamil Nadu will participate in a three-day workshop in Chennai from March 24-26. The workshops, organized by the School Education Department, are the culmination of year-long extracurricular activities in literary, quiz, and film clubs.
Eighty students each from the literary and quiz clubs, and 114 from the film club, will attend. These students were selected through block-level and district-level competitions held after the clubs were established in schools in 2022 to foster non-academic skills. Each club receives two dedicated periods per week.
The workshops aim to enhance students’ skills, focusing on essay writing (literary club), general knowledge (quiz club), and filmmaking (film club). The program will also include field trips to Fort St. George, the Government Egmore Museum, and Guindy Children’s Park. Students are expected to produce a magazine and conduct a mock quiz by the program’s end.
