**Nagpur, Maharashtra, March 22, 2025** – The number of arrests related to the violence that erupted in Nagpur on March 17th has risen to 105, with 14 more individuals, including 10 juveniles, apprehended on Friday. The unrest, triggered by rumors of a religiously significant cloth being burnt during Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) protests, resulted in widespread stone-pelting and arson.
Three additional FIRs have been filed in connection with the incident, bringing the total number of cases under investigation to an undisclosed figure. Thirty-three police officers, including three Deputy Commissioners, sustained injuries during the clashes. Among those arrested is key accused Fahim Khan, who faces sedition charges.
A curfew remains in effect across ten police station limits in Nagpur. Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singhal stated that a decision on lifting the curfew in certain areas will be made following a high-level review meeting. The police continue to maintain a strong presence across the city.
