Sat Mar 22 14:47:21 UTC 2025: ## Mysuru Largely Unaffected by State-Wide Bandh

**Mysuru, March 22, 2025** – A state-wide bandh called by pro-Kannada organizations in protest of an alleged attack on a KSRTC bus conductor in Belagavi had a minimal impact on Mysuru on Saturday. While some shops in the city center remained closed in the early hours, normalcy returned quickly, with most businesses operating as usual by mid-morning.

The bandh’s initial presence was most noticeable near the KSRTC bus stand, where a small demonstration was swiftly dispersed by police. KSRTC services experienced a one-hour delay, but operated normally thereafter, although passenger traffic was initially lower than usual. While some shops in central locations adopted a “wait-and-see” approach, opening later than usual, the majority opened by 10:30 a.m. Many commercial areas, including Ashoka Road, Irwin Road, Dhanwantri Road, and the fruit market, remained unaffected throughout the day. The Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association reported minimal disruption, with most restaurants open by 10 a.m.

Tourist numbers at the Mysuru Palace and zoo were lower than usual, but this was attributed to the low tourism season in March, rather than the bandh’s impact. Overall, the bandh’s effect on Mysuru was significantly less pronounced than anticipated.
