**Chennai, March 22, 2025** – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will field a new opening pair for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Virat Kohli, RCB’s star batsman, will partner with explosive English batsman Phil Salt, who impressed last year playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. This marks Kohli’s 17th opening partner in IPL history, following the departure of former RCB captain Faf du Plessis. Kohli and du Plessis formed a highly successful opening combination, accumulating 1890 runs in 37 matches at an average of 51.08. RCB’s first match is against the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens this Saturday.
