Sat Mar 22 03:41:10 UTC 2025: **Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to Host Key Delimitation Meeting**

CHENNAI, March 22, 2025 – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will host a crucial Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting on Saturday to discuss the upcoming delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. The meeting, described by Mr. Stalin as a “defining moment,” will bring together Chief Ministers Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala), Revanth Reddy (Telangana), and Bhagwant Singh Mann (Punjab).

The meeting aims to address concerns that the delimitation process could reduce the representation of several states, undermining India’s federal structure. Mr. Stalin has previously advocated for maintaining Tamil Nadu’s current 7.18% share of Lok Sabha seats and using the 1971 population census as the basis for delimitation for the next 30 years. He has called for Prime Minister Modi to make a parliamentary assurance on this matter.

Leaders from the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Indian Union Muslim League are also participating in the JAC meeting to support these demands. The outcome of the meeting is expected to significantly influence the ongoing debate surrounding the delimitation process.
