**Guwahati, March 21, 2025** – Opposition MLAs in the Assam Assembly today demanded a condemnation motion against BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi for referring to Dhubri district as “mini Bangladesh” during a Rajya Sabha speech.

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia initiated the call for the motion, stating that Trivedi’s remarks insulted the entire state. He insisted the assembly must officially condemn the statement. This sentiment was echoed by AIUDF legislator Rafiqul Islam, who questioned whether the government even considers Dhubri a part of Assam.

While Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary initially indicated he would address the matter, the issue remained unresolved as the legislative proceedings continued. The outcome of the demand for a condemnation motion remains pending.
