**Los Angeles, CA** – Two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom,” “Godless”) will join the cast of Apple TV+’s hit comedy series “Shrinking” for its third season, Deadline exclusively reveals. Daniels will take on a recurring role as the father of Jimmy (Jason Segel), the grieving therapist at the heart of the show.
This marks a return to comedy for Daniels, who has predominantly focused on dramatic roles in recent years. “Shrinking” will be his first major live-action comedy series role since 2014. The series, co-created by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, follows Jimmy as he challenges conventional therapy methods, leading to unpredictable consequences for his clients and himself. The ensemble cast also includes Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, and others.
Daniels’ casting is a significant addition to the already star-studded show. He recently appeared in “American Rust” and “A Man In Full,” and is set to portray Ronald Reagan in the upcoming film “Reykjavik.” He is also attached to star in Apple TV+’s “Dilettante.”
