**New Delhi, March 21, 2025** – Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in the Rajya Sabha today that India is on the cusp of developing a comprehensive, indigenously-produced anti-drone system. He stated that the solution is expected to be operational within six months, marking a significant achievement for the “Make in India” initiative. The announcement followed successful trials of the system.
Shah also highlighted the government’s success in combating drug trafficking, citing the destruction of 23,000 kg of synthetic drugs worth over ₹14,000 crore in the last five years. He emphasized the use of drones, satellites, and other advanced technologies in identifying and destroying opium fields, particularly targeting poppy cultivation. The Minister further linked drug trafficking to terrorist financing, vowing a zero-tolerance policy towards both. He also addressed concerns about drug seizures, stating that India is committed to preventing the transit of drugs through its territory.
