**Hyderabad, March 20, 2025** – The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has begun removing a 60-foot illegal road built inside the 700-acre Masab Lake in Rangareddy district. The action follows a complaint by Telangana legislator Malreddy Ranga Reddy, who alleged that realtors illegally filled a 300-meter section of the lake with boulders and earth to construct the road. HYDRAA confirmed the illegal construction after investigating complaints from local residents and has initiated encroachment clearing operations.

In a separate incident, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected Gangaram Cheruvu lake in Chandanagar following complaints of ongoing dumping. Mr. Ranganath highlighted that irrigation officials filed cases related to the dumping in December 2023, and a complaint was also lodged with the Chandanagar police. He advocated for a dedicated HYDRAA police station to effectively address lake encroachment issues. Mr. Ranganath also oversaw lake revival works at Sunnam Cheruvu near Borabanda, instructing officials to complete the project before the monsoon season.
