Thu Mar 20 19:33:59 UTC 2025: ## Gurugram Orders Evacuation of Three Towers in Chintels Paradiso Society

**GURUGRAM, March 21, 2025** – Three towers in the Chintels Paradiso housing society in Sector 109, Gurugram, have been ordered for immediate evacuation following a structural audit report declaring them unsafe. The order, issued by District Magistrate Ajay Kumar, cites a Central Building Research Institute report and invokes Sections 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code and Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act. Residents have been given two weeks to vacate, with legal action threatened against non-compliance.

The decision comes over two years after a partial building collapse in February 2022, which resulted in two deaths and several injuries. Six of the society’s nine towers have already been evacuated. The District Town Planner (Enforcement) has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the evacuation.

However, the residents’ welfare association (RWA) has strongly criticized the order, calling it insensitive and lacking proper planning. The RWA claims the administration failed to address concerns regarding alternative accommodation, financial compensation, and a clear reconstruction plan before issuing the evacuation notice. They have demanded a halt to the evacuation until these issues are resolved. Attempts to reach the District Magistrate for comment were unsuccessful.
