**Bengaluru, March 20, 2025** – The Karnataka Legislative Assembly today addressed allegations of corruption and mismanagement at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) in Mysuru. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok accused the university of widespread corruption in temporary staff appointments and a significant drop in deposits, from ₹1,200 crore to ₹400 crore, impacting staff salaries. He cited a protest where staff adorned the university building with a garland of currency notes to highlight their concerns. Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar responded that the State Higher Education Council vice-chairman has been tasked with investigating the allegations.
In other legislative action, the Assembly passed the Karnataka Animal Feed (Regulation of Manufacture and Quality Control) Bill, aiming to ensure the availability of high-quality animal feed. The Dr. H. Narasimhaiah Science, Educational, Cultural and Tourism Development Authority Bill, establishing an authority to manage heritage sites around Hosuru and Vidurashwattha, also received approval. Finally, the Notaries (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, proposing reservation for SC/ST, OBC, women, and physically challenged applicants in notary appointments, was tabled.
