**Srivilliputtur, Tamil Nadu, March 20, 2025** – A court in Srivilliputtur has convicted three individuals for forgery and corruption related to a 2001-2002 government development program. Two former officials of the Ind-49 Mariamman Oil Manufacturers Cooperative Cottage Industry Society, K.S. Subramanian and Sivaprakasam, along with a private lathe works owner, Kumar, received three-year jail sentences and fines totaling ₹65,000. The charges stemmed from a 2007 Vigilance and Anti-Corruption investigation which alleged the three conspired to embezzle ₹2.40 lakh through forged bills for equipment that was never purchased under the Western Ghats Development Programme. A fourth accused, Regan, former Assistant Director of Khadi and Village Industries, died during the trial.
