Thu Mar 20 20:20:00 UTC 2025: **Colgate Women’s Basketball Coach Departs for George Washington**
HAMILTON, NY — Colgate University’s women’s basketball program will be searching for a new head coach after Ganiyat Adeduntan accepted the same position at George Washington University. The announcement was made Thursday by both NCAA Division I programs.
Adeduntan, who took the helm at Colgate in April 2021, leaves behind a legacy of significant success. In her four seasons, she led the Raiders to 65 wins, the second-highest total in program history. This includes back-to-back 20-win seasons, culminating in a record-breaking 23-win season in 2024-25, and a second-place finish in the Patriot League – their best showing in over two decades. Colgate also reached the Patriot League tournament semifinals for the first time since 2013.
“Coach G’s vision and leadership transformed our program,” said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Yariv Amir. “The winningest four-year period in program history speaks for itself.”
Adeduntan expressed her gratitude for her time at Colgate, highlighting the players and the supportive environment. She described leaving as “bittersweet” but emphasized her pride in elevating the program to a level that makes the alumni and community proud.
Colgate’s assistant coach, Macey Hollenshead, will serve as interim head coach for the upcoming Women’s National Invitational Tournament game against Coppin State on Saturday. A national search for Adeduntan’s replacement is underway.
