Fri Mar 21 13:41:32 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore to Build 32 New Bus Shelters Along Avinashi Road Flyover Route
**Coimbatore, March 21, 2025** – The Coimbatore Corporation is undertaking a project to construct 32 new bus shelters along Avinashi Road, coinciding with the completion of a major flyover project. The ₹1,621 crore, 10-kilometer flyover, stretching from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins, is being built by the State Highways Department and is slated for completion by June 2025.
The new bus shelters will be strategically located along the entire flyover route. Fifteen shelters will be built between Uppilipalayam and Goldwins, and a further 17 between Goldwins and Uppilipalayam. Notable locations include areas near major hospitals, colleges, and landmarks.
Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran stated that due to funding constraints faced by the Highways Department, the Coimbatore Corporation will fund the construction of all 32 bus shelters. These shelters will be financed through an advertisement-based model. The Commissioner, along with Highways Department officials, recently inspected the proposed sites.
