Fri Mar 21 11:46:07 UTC 2025: ## Telangana BJP Leader Calls State Budget “Full of Lies”

**Hyderabad, March 21, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader in the Telangana Assembly, A. Maheshwar Reddy, has strongly criticized the state’s 2025-26 budget, denouncing it as “full of lies” and disconnected from reality. Reddy’s criticism, voiced during Friday’s Assembly budget discussion, centers on the budget’s failure to deliver on key promises and its unsustainable fiscal policies.

Reddy highlighted the absence of promised initiatives such as sustenance allowances for women and pension enhancements. He also pointed to a significant reduction in capital expenditure to just 16% of the total outlay, a move he believes will worsen the state’s already substantial debt. He expressed alarm over Telangana’s mounting debt, nearing 50% of the ₹16 lakh crore Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), resulting in a per capita debt of ₹2.27 lakh. He further alleged that the high GSDP projection is merely a tactic to secure more loans.

The BJP leader also accused the government of failing to deliver on several key promises, including a complete crop loan waiver, the construction of promised Indiramma houses, and the Musi River rejuvenation project, citing inconsistencies in the project’s cost estimates. He questioned the lack of progress on a forensic audit of land transactions through the Dharani portal and the government’s silence on implementing the Congress party’s six guarantees. Reddy noted the government’s accumulation of ₹1.63 lakh crore in loans within 15 months of taking office. He demanded clarification on the government’s resource mobilization plans to support the massive budget outlay.
