Thu Mar 20 18:08:08 UTC 2025: ## Bollywood Composer Amaal Mallik Cuts Ties with Family, Cites Parental Abuse and Depression

**Mumbai, March 20** – Renowned Bollywood music composer Amaal Mallik has announced a shocking decision to sever personal ties with his family, citing years of emotional abuse and the resulting clinical depression. In a lengthy Instagram post, Mallik detailed the strain on his relationship with his brother, singer Armaan Malik, attributing the rift to their parents’ actions.

Mallik described feeling consistently undervalued despite his significant contributions to the family’s well-being and career success. He stated that he had sacrificed personal ambitions for the family, only to face belittling and criticism. He recounted creating 126 melodies over the past decade, a testament to his dedication and hard work, but stated that this dedication was met with negativity rather than support.

He specifically blamed his parents for disrupting his well-being, undermining his relationships, and damaging his self-confidence. While acknowledging his own role in the situation, Mallik emphasized the profound impact of his parents’ actions on his mental health, leading to his clinical depression.

Despite the challenges, Mallik expressed pride in his achievements, stating that he and his brother Armaan had significantly impacted the music industry, escaping the shadow of being known solely as “someone’s nephew or son.” He attended Armaan’s wedding to Aashna Shroff in December 2023.

Mallik concluded his post by stating that he is cutting off personal ties with his family, maintaining only professional interactions going forward. He described the decision as necessary for his healing and rebuilding his life, emphasizing that it was not made out of anger but borne out of a desperate need to reclaim his well-being and future. The post ended simply with the words “Love & Peace.” Mallik is known for composing chart-topping songs including *Sooraj Dooba Hain*, *Naina*, and *Aashiq Surrender Hua*, and has also lent his vocals to hits like *O Khuda*, *Kaun Tujhe*, and *Buddhu Sa Mann*.
